Getting Started - The Bodydoctor Begins
Isn't it funny how one day you suddenly get motivated to do something? I brought the Bodydoctor book about 12 months ago, obviously with the best intentions of actually regaining my 20 year old waist (which is hidden under my 30 year old flab). What do they say about the path to hell & intentions...? Anyway, the book obviously collected dust at the top of my overloaded bookshelf and my waist didn't get any trimmer. Today I have decided that I have had a gutsful. None of my clothes fit anymore, and I simply don't have the money to run out and buy a whole new wardrobe. So, out came the Bodydoctor book (because I don't have the money for a gym membership either).
If you haven't heard of "The Bodydoctor" I wouldn't be too stressed. He does have a website (www.bodydoctor.com), and his book is ranked 1,010 as at today on www.amazon.co.uk. People must be buying it, but then I couldn't find any full on reviews on the net from people who had tried his programme at home. You need either a swiss ball or weight bench & some handweights, and obviously the motivation to see the programme out. You will need to change your diet as well (no junk, no ready meals etc), but thankfully there is no calorie counting or what I would call stupid faddish food stuff (e.g. "you mustn't eat carbs" or "eating potatoes 6 times a day will make you lose weight"). The cover of the book makes a pretty astounding claim:
"In 6 weeks take 5 inches off your waist, lose a stone, double your fitness. Trust me, I'm the Bodydoctor".
This should be interesting.
So, this morning I took the 9 required measurements, which was pretty heartbreaking. I'm a pretty average person in terms of exercise & diet, but still it's pretty distressing to see how far I have let myself go. I'll publish the results below but no snickering please. I figure if I shame myself online for the world to see then I will be more motivated to change my life!
